Ranch Hands Rescue is an animal sanctuary and a trauma counseling center. We provide a safe place for abused and neglected farm animals to receive recovery support and live out their lives in peace as valued members of our clinical team. By working with our Ranch Hands and mental health therapists, they become partners in transformative change for humans who have also experienced abuse and neglect. Ranch Hands Rescue is the first and only counseling center to partner a wide array of special needs farm animals in mental health therapy for survivors of complex trauma.

We are currently seeking a Full-Time (35-40 hours)/(Part-Time (10-20 hours) EXPERIENCED animal care staff for our animal sanctuary. This position requires previous experience working with Equus and other ungulates. The ability to work independently and in a team environment is a must. Other responsibilities will include maintaining grounds, and basic repairs. On the job training will be provided, however previous experience with horses is A MUST.

Daily Responsibilities/duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide overall care and maintenance of animals at the rescue ensuring animal health and safety, staff safety and public safety through established standard operating
    procedures.
  • Observe animals, inspect grounds and note any changes in behavior, diet, sickness and body condition.
  • Feed animals in accordance with nutritional and behavioral requirements.
  • Administration of medications and keep daily records of all medications administered.
  • Clean, disinfect and maintain all animal areas and ranch property.
  • Must have the ability to clean all stalls and pastures of all manure and debris in all weather conditions.
  • Must have the ability to move all farm animals with halters, leads and positive reinforcement
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to deliver exceptional customer service to all guests, neighbors and donors at all times.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs without difficulty,
  • Must be able to stand, bend, lift, stoop, push and pull
  • Must be able to use tools and operate small equipment
  • Must have knowledge of behavioral characteristics and handling procedures of farm animals including horses.
  • Must be willing to learn a new skill set specific to special needs animals.
  • Must be an effective communicator who understands the importance of chain of -Must be able to work Weekends, and Holiday

Facilities are in Argyle & Justin. Must have own vehicle and current driver’s license.
